This Google Presentation is a complete unit that includes intro activities, case studies, activities, discussion questions, and assessments. It is being offered to emphasize the importance of scholastic journalism and student voice in the school community. Using the complete unit will take several class periods. I usually break it up into 20-30 minute lessons. Feel free to copy and adapt for your purposes, but please keep the material on New Voices Legislation.

I hope that this unit emphasizes the need to pass New Voices Legislation in New Jersey (see slides 41, 42, and 43 and this White Paper), and the importance of getting involved in helping to getting the bills passed in the Senate (S1176) and Assembly (A238).
